Custom manufacturing moves quickly only when decisions are visible. A message saying “make it black and add our logo” sounds simple, but it leaves open the product platform, charging outputs, plug and cable configuration, finish, logo process, packaging, destination market and order quantity. Our job is to turn that idea into a controlled specification that design, sourcing, engineering and production can all follow.
This article explains the workflow using anonymised records from recent design and sampling projects. Customer names, conversations, artwork, logos, order references and delivery data have been withheld. The examples show the process without exposing a buyer’s programme.

Customisation can start with an existing wireless charger, desktop charger, charging cable or accessory platform, or it can begin with a new industrial-design direction. The right route depends on the commercial goal. A private-label launch usually benefits from a proven platform; a differentiated retail programme may justify a new housing, mechanism or electronic function.

Not every programme needs every layer. Keeping an existing electrical platform while changing colour, logo and packaging is usually faster than creating a new mechanism or PCBA. We separate these scopes in the quotation so buyers can see which choices affect sample timing, tooling and unit cost.

The three-day design target begins after we have enough information to design the right product. That normally means five groups of inputs:
Market: destination country, sales channel and intended user.
Function: device types, required outputs, ports, cable and adapter assumptions.
Appearance: references, colour, material, logo size and logo method.
Packaging: retail or bulk, languages, accessories and barcode needs.
Commercial plan: sample quantity, expected order quantity, target price and launch date.
The fastest input is a complete input. A vector logo, a colour reference and a marked-up product photo can save more time than a long message thread. If an item is undecided, we record the assumption in the design review instead of hiding it. |

For a suitable project using an available product platform, the first design output can often be prepared in about three days. The work is not simply placing a logo on a rendering. It links the visible design to a buildable specification.

A revision is normal. What matters is defining it. A colour correction or logo move can stay inside the same route; changing the product architecture, charging function or packaging format is a scope change and may reset the schedule. We show the difference before sample work starts.

For projects that use available materials and an existing platform, we can target a first sample in about seven days after the design baseline, sample charge and required inputs are confirmed. The seven days cover the sample build; courier transit is separate.

Build: technicians assemble the sample using the agreed configuration.
Inspect: appearance, basic function, fit, assembly and the agreed charging behaviour are checked.
Report and dispatch: photos or video can be supplied for confirmation before shipment.
The first sample answers two questions: does the product meet the approved appearance, and does the chosen configuration behave as intended? It is not automatically the final mass-production approval. If the programme needs reliability testing, market-specific compliance work, new tooling or a pilot run, those steps are planned after the first sample review.

Component availability also matters. If the approved colour, chip, connector or packaging material is not available in sample quantity, we will propose an interim sample method or a revised date. Any temporary substitution is identified so it is not mistaken for the production specification.

Custom orders create more files than standard orders: logos, renderings, colour references, drawings, packaging artwork, sample photos and revision comments. Speed is useful only if the correct version reaches the factory.
The approved drawing or artwork becomes the visual baseline.
Changes are recorded against that baseline instead of being buried in chat history.
Production-relevant choices are transferred to the sample and work-order information.
Customer artwork and programme records are not reused as public marketing material without permission.
When project examples are shared publicly, identifying names, logos, messages and order data are removed.
This control protects both sides. The buyer can compare the sample with the agreed design, and production has a clear reference when the order moves from a hand-built sample to repeatable assembly.

The exact package depends on scope, but a controlled custom project should make the main decisions easy to review. Typical outputs include:

A written sample configuration and any known differences from planned production

Yes. We review private-label, OEM and ODM requirements, including appearance, packaging, mechanical structure and electrical function. The quotation and timeline depend on the selected platform and the depth of customisation.

Vector artwork is preferred for logos and packaging. Please also provide a colour reference, desired logo position and any minimum-size or clear-space rules. If only a bitmap is available, send the highest-resolution version for review.
